Come join us in beautiful Mendocino County to celebrate the 60th birthday of Goa Gil!
Trance out to enjoyable dance grooves from Arriane and Goa Gil, as well as a special performance from Diamano Coura West African Dance Company (www.diamanocoura.org).
Goa Gil's 60th Birthday will be celebrated at Area 101 Mendocino County.
Arriane will kick off the night sometime around 5 or 6pm....followed by the Diamano Coura West African Dance Company. A group of 15-20 dancers will perform on a stage towards the back of the dance floor and will be followed by, of course, the one and only Goa Gil ^_^
Oh yeah, and we are also going to be rocking our brand new custom build sound system ^_^ You do not want to miss it!!!! So come early.
Gate will open at 3pm Saturday.
As always, come prepared to follow our global party principles:
1. Be Self Sufficient. Bring everything you need to thrive in comfort for two days outdoors in the Norther California October weather. We expect it to be nice during the day and cold at night. There will be NO CAR CAMPING (see more info below)
2. LEAVE NO TRACE. If your brought it in, you gotta pack it out. If you purchase food or beverages at Area 101, please dispose sort and dispose of your trash accordingly in the provided for bins. If a bin is full, please, do not continue to use it. Do not leave bags of trash next to the trash cans. And of course, try to keep the dance floor nice! Keep all liquids off of the stage, speakers, alters....you get the idea ![]()
3. Respect yourself, the land, and all the nature and people around you. We are all one community celebrating together. Let's make sure we all have a fantastic time.
- Area 101 is a beautiful welcoming venue that is easily accessible with any vehicle. There is a beautiful flat dancefloor perfect for long term grooving.
- There are real bathrooms (as well as portopotties), and showers.
- Area 101 will also be selling some beverages (kombucha, honest tea, stuff like that) and might be selling food at certain times during the day.
- Camping will be tight so get ready to meet your neighbors and make some friends.
- As you arrive, you will notice....that the grass in the hills is still yellow because there hasnt been a significant rain. That means fire saftey is a concern. Please....NO Candles. If you are using an open flame propane stove, be smart and be safe. Get it off the ground. Do not leave it unattended.
- There will be a VERY limited amount of car camping available. It is NOT first come first serve. Car camping passes are based on NEED. If you *NEED* to car camp, please explain why in an email to gilnessisgoodness@gmail.com Do NOT show up and expect to car camp. You will be sleeping under the stars...which is kind of nice. Might be a good experience. Might not though. Do not take that risk.
- All cars will be parked offsite, three miles down the road at the beautiful Tan Oak Park (http://fafuba.org/).
- Tan Oak will be offering yummy ozonated spring water for your drinking pleasure free of charge so save the earth and bring a reusable water jug to fill up!
- We have hired a professional shuttling service to run a shuttle between Area 101 and Tan Oak Park starting in the afternoon on Saturday through Monday morning.
- There will be a shuttle meet up station next to the Area 101 main building, and the shuttle will run every 20-30 minutes until Sunday evening about an hour or so after Gil stops. The shuttle will then rest until Monday morning. Times will be posted.
What if ... you really need to leave Sunday after Gil stops, but then...he stops and you realize that your car isnt packed and your carmates are up in a tree and refuse to come down? Not a problem. Just let the shuttle driver know that you need a little more time at that moment. He will take you when you are ready.
What if...you want to leave Monday morning before the shuttle starts running?
Please inform the gate crew when you arrive! We can arrange to have someone drive you.
But no matter what, DO NOT WALK DOWN HIGHWAY 101!!!!!! IT IS NOT SAFE and you will get us in serious trouble!!!!!!!!!!
